Thursday 30th April

Easy 1200m swim this morning to shake out my legs and back in 24 minutes

Wednesday 29 April 2009

Wednesday 29th April

7.5 mile run in 64 minutes with the club tonight - bit sore after it

Tuesday 28 April 2009

Tuesday 28th April

Early morning swim - bit of a time trial - 800m in 14 minutes which would give me just about 13 minutes for 750m on fresh arms in a race. Not too bad but could be better!!

16.3 mile cycle tonight, working on getting my speed up - don't know if I succeeded - average pace 16.33mph - bit of a head wind and rain

Monday 27 April 2009

Monday 27th April

Tiredness got the better of me yesterday so I missed my long cycle - not good.

Anyhow, hopefully back on track with a 1600m swim this morning in 29 minutes.

Pilates class tonight - very good, really enjoyed it.

Saturday 25 April 2009

Saturday 25th April

11 mile sunny run this morning in 1 hour 41 minutes - reasonable pace and everthing felt ok - back a bit sore after I had finished though.

Friday 24 April 2009

Friday 24th April

Half hour tough blast on turbo this evening. Life getting in the way of training this week. I need to knuckle down again next week...

Thursday 23 April 2009

Wednesday 23rd April

7.5 mile tempo run with the club tonight in 63 minutes - reasonably good pace for the run. Legs and back felt fine after it - chest is a bit tight at the moment with pollen.

Tuesday 21 April 2009

Tuesday 21st April

1200m early morning swim - in 23 minutes

15 mile cycle tonight in 55 minutes. Still windy... but sunny too - braved the shorts again (and a lot of football supporters going to a match) :)

Monday 20 April 2009

Monday 20th April

1200m early morning swim in just under 23 minutes - 800m split of 14 minutes. Bit of work needed before the first triathlon on 17th May.

Sunday 19 April 2009

Sunday 19th April

38.5 mile cycle in 2 hours 25 minutes today - lovely sunny weather to wear my new cycle shorts but still darned windy. Undulating route to Killyleagh and back - average speed 15.83mph - cycling mojo not quite there today due to lack of sleep and a head full of nonsense....

Saturday 18 April 2009

Saturday 18th April

Easy 9 mile run this morning at average 9.13mm pace. Wore Skins for the first time and found them very good - no pain in my legs during or after. Also second run out in my Mizuno Waves which have slight stability - again I think they are helping me too. So all good...

Took Willi up to the bike shop this afternoon for a check up and got a new pair of cycle shorts to wear in the sunshine forecast for tomorrow :-)

Monday 13 April 2009

Monday 13th April

The training continued today with another 59 mile cycle into a head wind for the first half. Very, very tired by the halfway mark. 4 hours 4 mins for the ride. Now physically exhausted but pleased with what we achieved this weekend. A rest day is needed tomorrow :)

Sunday 12th April

Big training weekend continued today with a 25 mile fastish cycle followed by a 6.5 mile run off the bike. Found the first 3 miles of the run very tough but got through it. A lot of work needed before the 70.3

Sunday 12 April 2009

Saturday 11th April

58.5 mile cycle today in 3hrs 54 mins. Longest cycle I have ever done. Windy and hilly for the first 31 miles then it got a bit easier after that. A few more like this are needed if I am going to be able to do the Half Ironman. Need also to sort out nutrition for the bike as I keep running out of energy....

Friday 10 April 2009

Friday 10th April

Happy Easter! Good steady 1600m swim this morning in just under 29 minutes. Been struggling with a cold and an infection this week - now on second course of antibiotics so hopefully my energy levels will come back up again. HR slightly higher as a result of it.

Wednesday 8 April 2009

Wednesday 8th April

Half hour turbo session this morning - good steady pace. Really struggling this week with fatigue.

Tuesday 7 April 2009

Tuesday 7th April

1200m early morning swim - reasonable pace but the water felt very heavy today... I am generally sore all over and very fatigued!! The pilates class must be taking more out of me than I thought.

Monday 6 April 2009

Monday 6th April

Pilates tonight using resistance bands - made it a lot harder. My neck is twinging a bit - hope it is ok.

Sunday 5 April 2009

Sunday 5th April

Titanic 10k race - I ran it in 51.52 (gun time). Felt quite comfortable in spite of my stiff and sore back. Could probably have pushed it a good bit more but just easing back into the racing now. It is still early days for the season. I am going to build some speedwork into my training now that I have a good strength base.

Saturday 4 April 2009

Saturday 4th April

Good but very wet 6 mile run this morning in 53.50 minutes to loosen my legs off before the Titanic 10k tomorrow.

26.85 mile cycle this afternoon in 1 hour 41 mins- undulating for part of the ride and gusty conditions. Very pleased with the strength I felt in my legs for this cycle - definitely stronger now.

The last part of the cycle was nearly ruined by the prat in the 4 x 4 who cut in in front of me then proceeded to stop causing me to crash into the back of him, hurting my back. Very shaken up and upset by it but ok now, thankfully.

Friday 3 April 2009

Friday 3rd April

45 minutes tough turbo session wearing my new helmet (probably looking very silly - but I wanted to try it out!)

Thursday 2 April 2009

Thursday 2nd April

Well paced 1200m early morning swim. Legs feel fine after last night - only a little bit stiff which is to be expected.

Wednesday 1 April 2009

Wednesday 1st April

1000m early morning swim - would have been longer if I could have dragged myself up a bit sooner!!

3 mile warm up and then the Queens Round the River 5k race - ran it in 24.37 so pretty pleased with that considering that I have done no speedwork and that my running has been so up and down recently.

And I bought one of these today :)
