Tuesday 30th December

Nice run along the banks of Lake Geneva. 7 miles in 64 minutes. Bit cold and a few flakes of snow but beats the towpath any day!

No training today - fighting off the dreaded flu lurgy going round at the moment. Off to Geneva tomorrow for a week for some cold weather training!!

Boxing Day 26th December

Took part in a charity 5 mile race this morning to work off yesterday's turkey and champagne! Legs felt strong but speed is not there at the moment - time 41.54. I really need to crank up the miles in the coming weeks. Good wee race though.

Bit of an effort to hoist myself onto the turbo this morning. Did half an hour on fairly high resistance. Felt a bit more awake by the end of the session!

7 mile easy run this evening in 65 minutes - enjoyed it - nice loop - no pressure...

Finally back at it again! 50 minute heavy duty spin class and then a good 1600m swim afterwards in about 31 minutes. Slight ITB pain at moment. I am not a hypochondriac - honest!

Early morning 1000m freestyle swim in 19 minutes. Bit of a niggle behind my right knee cap???

Evening yasso run session - 1 mile warm up, 6 yassos, 1 mile cool down - 6.5 miles in 57 minutes. Legs felt strong and I enjoyed it. Niggle gone!!

First run of a Saturday morning running group I set up through my club, Up and Runners NI. We did a nice 8.4 mile steady paced run. Legs felt strong and good.

Decided to run the NIVAA 5 mile race after all. PB because this is my first 5 mile race! Ran it in 40.34 - reasonably pleased with time since I haven't done much speedwork. Breaking 40mins will be a goal for next year.

Just new to blogging

Hi - this is my first bloggy post. Hopefully you will enjoy following my progess into the world of half and full Ironmans. Winter training starting in earnest on Monday. I ran Berlin Marathon at the end of September 2008 in 4.10 with a 25 mins pb. Aiming next year for a 4 or sub-4 hour.
